Seniors Support Local Farms and Alzheimer’s During In-House Farmer’s Market

Members at Homestead Hills grabbed their purses, masks, and baskets and headed down to their dining room to shop in-house farmer’s markets! They have not been able to attend busy shopping areas like the farmer’s market due to COVID-19 so their Social Director, Jennifer brought it to them. It was the perfect opportunity for their community to support local farms in the area and The Alzheimer’s Association.

Supporting the local area that our community calls home, Winston-Salem is a priority for Members at Homestead Hills. Bringing in produce from Cherry Hill Farms, Hill’s Orchard, and The Farm was an easy way to play an active role in that while supporting a cause that is near to our hearts. The farms provided local fare including apples, potatoes, squash, okra, zucchini, honey, jelly, and sweet apple butter. The dining services team ran the market and also prepared homemade baked goods as well. As a result of this event, Homestead Hills successfully raised over $750 for the Alzheimer’s Association which will be donated during the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
