Mr. Jere in the Navy
At Homestead Hills, our Members have the most incredible stories. The Members love these as they learn so much about their neighbors and allows our team to get to know them better! Mr. Jere was a naval helicopter pilot and shared some of his stories from the Navy when he was in Antarctica!
Irish American Heritage Chef’s Table
Tuesday evening we had our very special Irish American Heritage Chef’s Table. Chef Michael put together an amazing meal and the Members wined, dined, and enjoyed the evening! The menu included Scotch Egg Atop Fresh Arugula, Lobster and Fennel Salad, Pesto Stuffed Lamb Loin served with Roasted Carrots and Guinness Float with Coffee Ice Cream! It was absolutely lovely!
It has been over a month since we haven’t been able to do archery due to the cold weather and rain! However, we got to get back to it on Monday afternoon and the weather could not have been more beautiful! The Members were worried they would be rusty, but just like riding a bike, they got back in their groove and hit bullseyes all afternoon.
Trip to Ireland
Last week we took a trip to some of Ireland’s most interesting destinations. From kissing the stone at Blarney Castle to the Guinness Storehouse to the coast, we got a little history and culture. We also had a variety of flavors from Ireland including Irish chocolate, Guinness beer, Irish Dubliner and Reserve Cheddar, Wafer Crackers, and Guinness Potato Chips! It was a big success and got us in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day!
In this month’s Wine Club, we featured the region of Tuscany. Our expert wine tasters enjoy a sampling of six wines, selected and presented by our American Premium Beverage Representative, Francie Parro. The wines were paired with six canape bites created by our Executive Chef, Michael! The menu included Antipasto Skewers with Kalamata Olives, Mozzarella Cheese, Artichoke Hearts, Cherry Tomatoes & Balsamic Glaze, Zucchini & Tomato Bites with Sliced Mozzarella atop Toasted Crostini, Caramelized Onion & Artichoke Bite, and more! Our attendees got to see, swirl, sniff, sip, and savor the offerings. After the tasting, each Member selected three wines to order to be delivered next week. We are looking forward to taking the wine garden outdoors as the nicer weather approaches!
This week we hosted our monthly Ladies’ Tea and it was splendid! Our new Members attended their first tea and had a blast! Dining Services prepared a variety of pastries for the ladies to enjoy with their warm teas. This is always a lovely afternoon event for them to get together and catch up and listen to the beautiful sounds from the piano.
The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and class sizes are officially growing here at Homestead Hills! Our Wellness Team couldn’t be more thrilled to start seeing more smiling faces in the morning for exercise!
Join us in wishing our March birthdays and anniversaries a wonderful new year! We hosted our monthly celebrations last week and it was simply splendid! They enjoyed a three-course meal which included Spinach & Strawberry Salad, Bacon Wrapped 4oz Filet with Demi Glaze, Wild Rice, Sauteed Green Beans, and Cheesecake with Blueberry Topping for Dessert.
